Over the past years our auto industry has had it ups and downs in the market and work industry. In this past debate a big controversy has about about in regards to the Ford Motor Company. In one of Trumps arguments he made an attack on the company in Fords eyes. What the company is planning doing is taking small car production out of Michigan and building factories in Mexico by investing 1.6 billion in operations. Realistically Ford is able to produce cars in this location at a more efficient cost. As a result of that and foreign job generation, Trump was appalled. In the debate Trump went on to mention that he would put a higher tariff on imported cars in areas like this raising it to a steep 35%. However Ford goes on to mention that over the past five years the have invested as much as 12 billion dollars into the plants within the United States. Not only that but they have given as many as 28,000 jobs to people seeking good work. They argue that its only small compared to things that happen. Yet it goes on to mention that the cars that would now be made in Mexico already contain less than 50% of U.S. materials.
Good piece Chip, very informal and a good current issue. But since ford is branded as an American company yes they should have all of their parts built within our borders. But it's a problem we see with all of the big three. Chrysler and GM both outsource to lower the cost of their cars. And in the business mind perspective this isn't a very bad idea. Lowering the cost of a product makes profit more than it was before which may increase worker's salaries and eventually more cars to be built. But I do understand the mind set of an American car driver who doesn't like the thought of driving a car where some parts may have been built in a foreign country.
